REMOTE AREA FIRST AID 

Incorporating the Unit of Competency: HLTFA302A Provide first aid in remote situation

This course will provide the participant with skills and knowledge to provide first aid in a remote setting. Ideal for people working in remote areas, 4x4 clubs, outdoor activity clubs, bushwalkers and recreational activities.

This course meets all requirements for Remote Area First Aid, as outlined in the Safework SA "Code of Practice for First Aid in the Workplace" (2010)

• Preparation for remote situations
• Extended skills for longer-term care of the sick and injured
• Advanced first aid equipment
• Trauma
• Medical conditions
• CPR
• Unconscious casualty
• Documentation of longer-term care
• Evacuations
• Use of communication equipment for remote areas
• Shelter in remote areas
• Tailored training to suit drilling and exploration injury risks, and Medical Authority to administer medication

Pre-requisites

The participant must have a current Apply First Aid certificate (ie Senior First Aid)
